Walking with God | Knowing and Discerning the Voice and Will of God

30 Day Journey of Walking With God

The last part of our 30 day journey focused on allowing God to sharpen our ability to hear his voice throughout time + experiences.  Without the help of the Holy Spirit, we can hear what God is saying but not understand what it means or see what God is doing but not perceive the impact.

As we grow in our relationship with God, one of our objectives should be to develop intimacy with him so that we know his voice and another we will not follow.  Don't be discouraged. Knowing God's voice and will is not perfected overnight but God has not left us alone throughout the process. He's given us the tools of prayer, His Word, wisdom + discernment in conjunction with Godly Counsel.

if you feel like it's too hard to understand what to do next don't give up. Trust that God wants to lead, guide and direct you along the path to his perfect will. Stop and take time to ask the Lord to show you his will. If you're still stuck, share your dilemma with godly counsel and evaluate your decision against the characteristics of Godly wisdom (James 3:17)

While we do not want to casually ignore gods voice, we must also be assured that if we do miss the mark, God knows how to get you back on the right track. The key thing that God is looking for is a heart position that is steadfast towards him and willing to go where he leads. He will guide you as long as you are willing to submit.

    Isaiah 41:10
Don’t be afraid, for I am with you.
Don’t be discouraged, for I am your God.
I will strengthen you and help you.
I will hold you up with my victorious right hand.

    Psalms 32:8-11
8 The Lord says, “I will guide you along the best pathway for your life.
I will advise you and watch over you.
Do not be like a senseless horse or mule
that needs a bit and bridle to keep it under control.”
10  Many sorrows come to the wicked,
but unfailing love surrounds those who trust the Lord.
11  So rejoice in the Lord and be glad, all you who obey him!
Shout for joy, all you whose hearts are pure!

Finally don't distance yourself from a healthy community of believers. The Christian walk was not meant to be walked alone and in private interpretation but the body of Christ brings accountability and greater understanding towards the voice + will of God.

For me, the 30 day journey reminded me that the process of knowing + discerning Gods voice & will is a daily journey that requires discipline and devotion. You will not know Gods voice by simply standing there and hoping some decoder drops from the sky. Further, you won't find it by esoteric and deep knowledge. You will only find it through building an intimate relationship with God. That's easy to remember when I need something but I have to remember to do my "off-season" conditioning so that when troubles come my spirit man is filled rather than being empty. If I don't fill myself with Gods word daily I am going  to miss out on his plans when i really need to hear them.

Just like natural hearing is difficult when crowded by a lot of voices, hearing from God is difficult when there are a lot or circumstances talking in our life. Whether it be stress, financial demands, exceeding joy, or new possibilities, we have to be able to draw away to the presence of God to
    hear his voice.

Don't neglect times of solitude with the Father. Don't neglect meeting together with other saints. Don't neglect the growth process. Stay humble in Gods presence. "The eyes of the Lord search the whole earth in order to strengthen those whose hearts are fully committed to him." (2 Chronicles 16:7a)
