SCRIPTURE |

Jeremiah 33:1-3; Psalms 27:4-9

SPEAKER |

Pastor Joseph Ardayfio

KEY THEME |

Prayer is fellowship with God through Jesus Christ through which believers draw near to God and learn more of his will for their lives

1)     God reveals himself in prayer in various ways.  We must pay attention in prayer to apprehend how God is speaking whether: His creative order, prophetic voice, dreams, visions, miracles, providence, circumstances, angels + audible voice.

2)     We must have the correct posture as we enter into prayer

a.  We must remember that He knows everything that we need before we ask him. We are coming to him to receive from him. [Matt 6:7-8]

b. The Prophet Jeremiah recognized that he was asking of the Lord who made the earth.  Is anything too hard for this God to answer in prayer?

3)     God promises that when we call on Him, He will answer us.  It may not be the answer we are looking for, but it is the answer that we need. [Jer 33:3]

4)     3 Aspects of Prayer and God’s Response

a.  Worship– praise, adoration, thanksgiving

God’s Response - His presence + peace [James 4:8a; Psalms 145:18; Philippians 4:6-7]

b.  Inquiry/Evaluation – confession, instruction, guidance

God’s Response - grace + wisdom [Hebrews 4:15; Isaiah 30:19-21; Proverbs 28:13]

c.  Petition – intercession, deliverance

God’s Response - provision [2 Chronicles 7:14-15; Psalms 91:14-16; Psalms 34:17-22, 2 Corinthians 12:8-10]
