One of the spiritual blessings that we have in Christ is that God has adopted us as sons and daughters so that we might have the privilege, benefit and responsibility of divine sonship.

1)    Adoption give us the PRIVILEGE on sonship

a.  As sons and daughters of God, the greatest privileges that we have are ACCESS + INTIMACY with our heavenly Father.

2)   Adoption give us the BENEFITS on sonship

a.  The benefit of being God’s children includes God’s Providence, Purpose, Protection, Provision and Perfection.

b.  We have the benefit of being under God’s providence or preserving care.

c.  Our new identity in Christ gives us the benefit of having an eternal purpose in this life and the life to come].

d.  We experience God’s abundant protection as He brings all things in conformity with His will.

e.   We receive an inheritance, or provision, the greatest of which is being marked with a seal, the promised Holy Spirit

f.   We are created for the praise of God’s glory so He works in us to bring us to completion, or perfection, in Christ

3)   Adoption gives us the RESPONSIBILITY of sonship

a.  You have been given responsibility and entrusted with an inheritance as a son/daughter of God.  His expectation is not for you to run and use your inheritance for your own purposes but to use it for His purposes that He has prepared in advance for you to do.
