He Will Do It

SERIES |

Living Wisely in Turbulent Times |  A Study in James 1

SCRIPTURE |

James 1:5-8

SPEAKER |

Pastor Ophelia Ardayfio

KEY THEME |

We must trust that God will give us the wisdom that we need to endure trials. The wisdom that God gives is superior to earthly wisdom but not always mutually exclusive.

1)     The first place we should go in times of trial should be to prayer, asking God for wisdom for the trial that we are facing.

2)     When we ask for wisdom, we must believe and not doubt. We must believe 1) that God has the wisdom to give and 2) that He will give it to us.

3)    The result of doubting God when we ask for wisdom, is that, we not only lack the wisdom that we need, but we will not be steady, rather, we will always run after one thing or another to get through our trials.

4)    How do we judge whether the wisdom we seem to have is our own flawed thoughts, or if it is in fact the wisdom that comes from God?

a.  Doubt says, “God can’t or won’t do this.” Testing says “God will do it, I want to make sure I am lining up with His will. [Romans 12:2]

b.  Our discerning of whether we are strictly using earthly wisdom or Godly wisdom usually comes down to the motivations behind what we are doing. [James 3:13-18]

c.  Godly wisdom is pure; peace-loving, considerate, submissive, full of mercy and good fruit, impartial and sincere. [James 3:17]
