KEY THEME |

One of the most important spiritual blessings that we have in Christ is being redeemed from alienation with God so that we can experience freedom and peace and understand the responsibility of walking worthy of our redeemer.

1)    Jesus is the only one who can, and has, redeemed us from the problem of sin. [Mark 10:45].

2)   FREEDOM – What does redemption release us from?

a.  God’s redemption releases us from the consequences of being alienated with God or under his wrath

b.  It also releases us from the by-products of alienation with God: false lordship and the curse of sin.

c.  The price for our freedom was the sinless blood of a sacrifice in our place.

3)   PEACE – What does redemption give us?

a.  The quality of your redeemer is where do you stand after the price has been paid.

b.  As humans, when we realize that the price is more than we can pay – we often try and find counterfeits to use as our redeemer.   But all of these counterfeits still leave us standing at the same place before God – slaves to sin.

c.  Jesus, as our redeemer, purchased the forgiveness of our sins, which gives us peace with God.

d.  Every time the devil accuses us, we do not have to fear the consequences of slavery, we can know that the consequences of sin have been paid for.

4)   RESPONSIBILITY - What did God redeem us to do?

a.  God doesn’t redeem us in order to see how we can pay him back through deeds.  He redeems us in order to transform our hearts to naturally do good deeds.

b.  We have the responsibility to walk worthy of what has been done for us.
