Message:     Boldness to Pray God-Honoring Prayers

Scripture:    Hebrews 4:14

1)    What is a prayer request that God has answered for you in the last year?

2)    As you reflect back on last weekend’s sermon, what one principle or insight stands out as being particularly helpful, insightful or difficult to grasp? Were you challenged in any area of your personal walk with God?

3)    Have you ever felt that God wouldn’t understand the things that you are going through? Read Hebrews 4:15. The Scriptures say that Jesus was tempted in every way, just as we are—yet he did not sin. How does this revelation impact how you approach God?

4)    Hebrews 4 reminds us that we can receive mercy and find grace when we approach God for help in our time of need. How does mercy and grace enable us to live the life that God has called us to live?

5)    How does shame hinder us from approaching God in boldness? What does prayer with ‘shameless audacity’ look like? Read Acts 4:18-31. How did the believers pray with ‘shameless audacity’?

6)    Andy Stanley shared in a sermon series on prayer: “Chances are, if God answered all the prayers you have prayed this past year, the only difference it would have made is in your life and your family. And while that may be great for you and your family, could your prayers be bigger? Bolder? What are some specific ways that you can be bold in praying for the needs of others in your life?

7)    This week, as you encounter various situations, don’t forget that you have been given boldness to approach God with confidence. Share one prayer request with the group that they can agree in prayer with you.
