let's talk some moreLet’s Talk Notes – Week of June 9, 2013

Message:    Refusing to Go to the Other Side

Scripture:    1 Samuel 8:1-21

1)      What is your happiest/funniest/most fulfilling moment from real.life groups over the last year?

2)      As you reflect back on last weekend’s sermon, what one principle or insight stands out as being particularly helpful, insightful or difficult to grasp? Were you challenged in any area of your personal walk with God?

3)      How is the Christian lifestyle fundamentally different from the world around us? How have you dealt with those differences? How has your life changed since you have become a believer in Christ? If you are not a believer, what changes to your lifestyle are you afraid to make?

4)      What does it mean to prioritize the Kingdom of God when we ask God for his intervention? Do you know of any biblical examples of individuals who prioritized the kingdom of God? How have you prioritized the kingdom of God in your decisions?

5)      Sometimes, the hardest part about asking God for His intervention is the willingness to listen to how God responds. How can we listen more attentively to God?

6)      This week’s message indicated that we have to resolve that “God desires what is best for us.” Do you believe this statement? Why? Read Matthew 7:7-11. What do these verses teach us about God’s desire for us?  How does this resolution about God change our actions on a day-to-day basis?

7)      Share with your group one truth that you have taken away from the study in 1 Samuel.
