Message:     The Truth Sets Us Free

Scripture:    Ephesians 6:10-14a

1)      Share a truth and a lie about your life. How many people were able to tell the truth apart from the lie?

2)      As you reflect back on last weekend’s sermon, what one principle or insight stands out as being particularly helpful, insightful or difficult to grasp? Were you challenged in any area of your personal walk with God?

3)      How do you discern between the truth and a lie? Do you struggle at times to discern between the two? Why is it important to have an objective standard by which we can measure what is truth? Why is God that objective standard?

4)      The way to ground our life in truth is to be so familiar with the truth that we can easily recognize counterfeits. Review the 7 truths that Pastor Joseph shared in the sermon notes this week. Which truth is most impactful to you in your life now? Besides the 7 truths, what are some other truths that believers in Christ should know? (Make sure to include a scripture reference).

5)      In your life, has the enemy ever twisted God’s truth into a lie? If you are comfortable, share about your experience of standing on God’s truth.

6)      Pastor Joseph shared that “We must not only love truth, but we must be willing to submit to its demands.” For the following truths of scripture, what is required of us in order to put the truth into action?

Galatians 5:13-26

Micah  6:8

7)      How do you guard the truth that God has deposited within you? How does regular devotional time with God and study of the scriptures facilitate our ability to guard against Satan’s lies?
