Let’s Talk Notes – Week of October 13, 2013
Message: Finding Success through Godly Wisdom
Scripture: Proverbs 2:1-22
1) Share a piece of advice that someone gave you that has been beneficial for your life journey.
2) As you reflect back on last weekend’s sermon, what one principle or insight stands out as being particularly helpful, insightful or difficult to grasp? Were you challenged in any area of your personal walk with God?
3) What are some of the roles that you are called to be successful in? (e.x. a successful husband/wife, educator, athlete, entrepreneur, etc.) What resources have provided you insight on the steps required for achieving success in these areas? Books, magazines, TV Shows, workshops, family advice, church sermons, Bible?
4) Read Proverbs 1:5-7 and Proverbs 9:9. The writer says that the wise add to their learning. Why should learning the Word of God be an important part of our pathway to Godly success? Solomon says that we should search for Godly wisdom as if we were diligently searching for a hidden treasure. How do you incorporate storing up Godly wisdom into your daily life? How can you improve in this area?
5) Kingdom principles are applicable to every aspect of our lives. Share a Scripturally-based Kingdom principle that you live by.
6) Reflect on this statement: “The danger of leaving God out of our path to success is that we can fall prey to those whose ‘paths are crooked and who are devious in their ways.’” How do you ensure that God is a part of your pathway to success? Read Proverbs 3:3-10.
7) Godly wisdom saves us from the lusting after success. Pastor Joseph shared that the more success that we achieve, the more that we have to guard against the things that can replace God and eventually rob us of further success. Are there any things in your life that have a louder voice than God’s Word? How can you amplify God’s Word?
