Our Core Values

Mars Hill Fellowship Church has 8 core values ["MARS HILL"] that represent the ethos (culture) of our church and that drive us to accomplish our mission, purpose and vision.  These values explain why we do what we do.

Mission and Message of the Gospel

We believe the center of our mission and purpose is the message of the gospel as expressed by the life, death, burial and resurrection of Jesus Christ.  We will endeavor to use opportunities to live out the reality of the gospel in our daily lives. (Romans 8:3)  With Christ as the Head, we desire to grow and become a body of Spirit-filled, healthy, balanced and mature Christians.  We will passionately support and pursue opportunities for mutual accountability, instruction in the Word and endurance in spiritual disciplines so that we may build each other up in love. [Ephesians 4:16]

Authority of Scripture

We value the Bible as God’s inspired, accurate and authoritative word for salvation and purposeful living.  We strive to unashamedly teach God’s Word with clarity and accuracy and to examine ourselves corporately and individually using Scripture as our final authority.  [Hebrews 4:12, 2 Tim 2:15]

Reaching the Lost

We strive to model Christ’s sacrificial love and outward reach.  Therefore, we will use every available Christ-honoring means to pursue, win and disciple unbelievers into mature followers of Christ who influence their families, cultures, systems and institutions for the glory of God. [Matthew 28:19-20]

Spirit Led Believing Prayer

We prioritize Spirit-led believing prayer as an essential part of living a Christ-centered life.  We rely on fervent, passionate and effectual prayer in the conception, planning, execution, and evaluation of ministries and activities. [Colossians 1:9-14, Psalms 37:5]

Healthy Community and Fellowship

We value the fostering of authentic relationships that extend beyond cultural, racial, economic and societal differences.  We encourage an atmosphere of healthy relationships that cultivates concern for each other. [Matthew 7:12, Hebrews 10:25]

Inspired Worship

We desire to acknowledge God’s supreme nature in our personal lives and in the corporate worship gatherings. We will passionately pursue a lifestyle of God-honoring worship in all that we do. We creatively utilize the technical and performing arts (e.g., music, dance, drama, creative writing, and art) to bring glory to God.  [Psalms 100, Romans 12:1, Ephesians 5:19, Colossians 3:16-17]

Living in Balance

We recognize that God has called us to walk in integrity and to be faithful stewards in the multiple areas of lives, including our families, homes, church, workplaces and schools. We seek to teach a biblical worldview and model effective ways to live out our daily Christian experience with a healthy balance that glorifies God and bears good fruit.  [1 Corinthians 4:2, Galatians 5:22-23]

Living and Serving in Godly Excellence

We value giving God our first and our best. We will seek to honor God by ministering with integrity and maintaining a high standard of excellence in all of our ministries and activities [Colossians 3:23]
